While singing with the Chapel of Prayer choir, Dave met Lisa, whom he wed following a brief courtship. The congregation of this Baptist church has greatly helped him over the past years since while incarcerated he met a church elder visiting the down and out. Dave lived through decades of substance abuse problems. One leg is shorter than the other due to a gunshot suffered in a drug-related incident. He was unable to keep a job. Enamel decayed, his teeth split and were pulled. The church congregation took him in, brought him clothes, bought him dentures, valued his talent as a singer, and generally aided him in turning his life around. He is saddened by the desertion of his wife and reminded of her by the piles of belongings she has left.
