Southwest Brewing News is one of a family of papers which included Northwest Brewing News, Rocky Mountain Brewing News, and Southern Brew News. Six issues were printed a year and covered stories from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona. The publication began in 1993 when the craftbrewing scene in Texas took off and it continued for nearly thirty years. It relied on contributing writers and editors from all of the states it represented. The end of Southwest Brewing News came in 2019 when one of the publishers was disgraced for a misogynistic article written for another publication and ad revenues fell sharply.

This collection was compiled through multiple individual donations.
The bulk of this collection was donated to St. Edward’s University by Dan Dewberry in 2020 and Brian “Swifty” Peters in 2018. Additional issues were gifted to the collection through various individual donors.
Standard policy is to retain one copy of each issue. Duplicated issues that come in as a part of a donation are discarded in accordance with individual donor agreements.
Accruals to fill the gaps in the collection are expected.
This collection was originally processed by Megan Firestone. Additional processing was done by Travis H. Williams. Both served as SEU Archivist.
