A collection of ephemera from craft beer breweries from across the state of Texas. The bulk of the materials are stickers, coasters, tap handles, pint glasses, clothing, signage, and business cards. Additional materials include press clippings, coozies, bottles, cans, taster cups, labels, menus, and photographs.

The state of Texas legalized brewpubs in 1993. After a slow but steady start, the industry exploded and since then an incalculable number of breweries have opened and closed across the Lone Star State. Some last decades, where others last only a few months. They range in size from one employee to hundreds. They are found in big cities and small towns. Much of the culture of brewpubs is found in the promotional materials they create - some to promote a specific brew or event, others to promote the business as a whole. As businesses grow, these materials often evolve to reflect changing times. Generally not meant to be kept in the long-term, these pieces of ephemera offer a snapshot of Texas craft brewing history.

A collection of ephemera from craft beer breweries from across the state of Texas. The bulk of the materials are stickers, coasters, tap handles, pint glasses, clothing, signage, and business cards.
Collection is arranged in a single series, in order of acquisition.
This collection was compiled by St. Edward’s University’s Munday Library.
Materials in this collection come from a variety of sources. The primary source of acquisition is direct donation by the associated brewery. Additional materials have been collected at public events, festivals, and from individual collectors. Some materials have been acquired in partnership with the Austin Beer Museum.
Standard policy is to retain one copy of each item present at the time of donation. Additional materials are discarded in accordance with individual donor agreements. Some excess materials are donated to the Austin Beer Museum.
Frequent accurals are expected.
Because of the varying size and storage requirements of this highly varied collection, the materials for most breweries are spread across multiple containers. Each folder lists the locations of separated items. Some materials have been chosen for display in the Tocker Reading Room. Others are hanging in the Archives Workroom to maximize storage space.
