Lucy Berry

Here is what the Berry family shared about themselves a decade ago, when they first talked with Our China Stories:
 
Patty and Jim Berry brought their daughter, Lucy, home to Warren, Michigan, just outside Detroit, in 2013. 

Lucy, who was 4 when Our China Stories visited, had undergone five surgeries to repair her cleft lip and palate, two in China. 

Patty, 41, a hairdresser, and Jim, 44, a plant manager, said they never thought twice about the medical challenges or expense. Every day with Lucy is a joy, they said. She's a typical 4 year old, said Jim, laughing. Everything about her is a surprise.
