General
Interview Summary: Delaney Shiono, an Austin native, heard of St. Edward’s last minute when applying to colleges. While on a college tour, she met with a member of the Students Disability Services. One of the main things for Delaney when choosing a college was that they had the dedication and drive to support and accommodate her needs, and out of all the colleges she toured, St. Edward’s was the most committed to supporting her. While at St. Edward’s, Delaney was a part of the Students Disability Services, where she would attend weekly groups, meet new people, and learn new skills. One of her favorite memories was freshman year when she competed in the Brother Dunstan’s Bowl, a persuasive speaking contest. Although she did not win, she felt that her presentation was informative and helped her improve her presentational speaking skills. She uses the skills and knowledge that she gained from St. Edward’s in her job and daily life and is thankful for the wide variety of classes from which she was able to take information and experience.
